Fusion Card Challenge - Powell Butterfly Hello

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  I hope you're having a great day!  A new challenge from Fusion Card Challenge begins today!  Check it out!

There's lots to like in the clean and simple photo inspiration.. a pretty hand writing font hello in gold on a card stock base.  You can work with the photo, or if you're just not feeling it then go with the sketch!  Feeling clever?  Fuse them both together!

I zoomed in on the gold on a card stock base.  You know me.. I just haven't mastered the CAS thing yet.. so I covered my card stock with beautiful Poppystamps Powell Butterfly die cuts.
To create this card I cut the butterfly die several times.  I arranged them on my card stock base and adhered them all in place. I placed an acrylic block over them to keep them flat while they dried.  A few hours later I came back and trimmed the panel slightly smaller than my card base.
I cut the Poppystamps Big Luxe Hello once from gold foil and twice from white card stock.  I adhered them together to make the die cut thick and easy to work with.

I loosely wound gold twine around my fingers several times before adhering the "hello" word die over the string.  The die cut is holding the string in place.

Gold enamel dots add more gold sparkle and shine to this design and help draw your eye back to the center of the card.

The delicate white die cut butterflies are like lace letting the colored card stock background peek through.  This technique is fun and looks beautiful! I hope you'll try it with some of the die cuts you already have in your collection.

Want to see more designs inspired by this challenge photo? Head on over to the Fusion Card Challenge blog where you'll see cards from our amazing designers that will get your mojo jump started!  We can't wait to see what you make!

Pretty Little Studio - Happy Today

I hope you're having a great day! Today I'm playing with the Ain't Life Grand Collection! I love the fun mix of elements in this collection! There's flowers, cameras, arrows, clouds in unexpected shades of navy, baby blue, lime and pink! The colors are bright bold and beautiful and this collection is quickly turning into my Summer "go to" for documenting and cardmaking.

I started this card with the little Easy Breezy Shipping Tag you see in the center of the design - it has the word "happy" printed on it in a fun hand written font! I zoomed in on the colorful stripes on the card (lime baby blue and navy).

I decided to make a collage style card embellished with lots of fun stuff from the collection! Like what? How about those die cut Bloomin' Blooms (flowers), Document This (camera) and Love Life Words (life is good sentiment). I love that the images are die cut and ready to work with.. but the best part? The colors match perfectly! And they are easy to match through the other collections you'll find in the Pretty Little Studio Shop. So when you see light blue in the Ain't Life Grand Collection you know it's a match for the light blue in the other collections.

Everyone knows we eat with our eyes.. and some candy never hurts! For a little shine I added a Flair from the Life Noted package, and some Snow Fall sequins.

In addition to repeating colors I repeated the blue graph pattern through out the design - you'll see it on the camera, background paper and the little "noted" flag adhered at the top of the card. The die cut flowers are attached with adhesive foam tape to add dimension to the design.

This one is a good reminder to enjoy TODAY.. make every minute count!

CASology - Let Your Dreams Soar!

It's another hot and humid day here in the Chicago area.  I had a few errands to run earlier and I brought Miss Moriko with me.  The ladies at the bank drive through made a fuss of her and asked how she's handling the weather.  I'm thinking she's ok since she insisted on the windows down!  We were both glad to get back home to the air conditioning!

I'm playing along with CASology this week.  It's been a while since I've played along, and when I saw the cue card this week I knew just the stamp set I wanted to play with!

I reached for the Pretty Pink Posh Fly A Kite set!  I think after this card I am the Queen of masking!  LOL!  Nothing CAS about this card that took me to school!

First I stamped the kites, masked them with cut out images I stamped on post it notes.  I even masked the little bows on the kite tails.
Next I stamped the clouds and masked those. Then I added the sunshine and masked that. I added the soft blue Broken Glass Distress Ink background with a clarity stencil brush.

When the sky was the perfect color I removed all the masks and colored the images with Copic markers.

I'm really happy with how it turned out and while I hate to admit it.. it was worth the effort!

Cupcake Inspirations - Emoji Love

OMG! I saw this challenge at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge and I HAD to play along!
Do you love EMOJI's? Who doesn't right? Believe it or not the emoji lover in my house is my husband. He uses them all the time on his texts - I'm guessing that might be because it's easier than writing full sentences when he has a message to convey!
The Emoji Love Collection from Simple Stories is just the ticket to get your Emoji fix! The 12" pattern paper pack comes with a sticker sheet that has lots of great images and sentiments to add to cards.

I love the chipboard pack too - it's a sheet of chipboard stickers that add lots of dimension to your projects!
I'm always happy to see heart eyes, winks, kisses and smiley faces! How embarassing! LOL! You're never too old for a little love right?
The collection has sticker sets that are great for dressing up your Carpe Diem calendar too! I'm loving the matching enamel dots in all the right colors!
Don't they just make you happy? It's the little things in life! LOL!

Pretty Pink Posh July Release Blog Hop!

Have you been checking the latest Pretty Pink Posh release? There's lots of new things to show you and everything is already available in the store! Today we're having a blog hop to celebrate the new release and there's some candy up for grabs! So why don't you grab a cuppa your favorite and join us?

This is the second day of a 2-day hop. If you're following along you should have reached me from the Pretty Pink Posh blog where you can get all the details of the hop today including the prizes up for grabs!

There's one thing all the new products have in common... they're going to make you smile! The stamps and dies are everything SUMMER!   And I'll tell you the truth.. you're going to want them all!
I love the new Smile Shaker Frame! It's beautiful script sentiment, stitched and scalloped detail make it a beautiful addition to everything you make! It coordinates beautifully with the existing dies in the collection like the Scallop Frames I used as a border on my card.

What makes me smile? Well.. a trip to the beach of course! I have so many good memories of my kids playing in the sand! I made a sandy beach with a Stitched Borders One die cut from some card stock.

This sweet girl is from the Summer Friends stamp set! All the kiddos in the set are cuter than the last.. but this girl with her unicorn blow up is my favorite!
And while we're at the beach.. why not go into the water? The Sea Friends stamp set has so many cute critters that I couldn't fit them all one one card! There's a seahorse, whale and octopus that didn't make it on to this card!

I created distress ink background and splattered it with water.. and then a splash of white ink. I tried to make it look like a ray of sunshine was coming down from the surface to light up the ocean floor.

And look what's waiting there... a starfish, some seaweed, a crab.. and oooh a pretty pearl inside a shell!

Every last detail is just perfect in this set - with everything you need to make your own underwater scenes! I cut and colored at least 10 of each so I could arrange them in different ways.   Droplets make fun water bubbles to accent your scene!

Ready for the next stop on this hop? It's Lexa Levana!! But BEFORE you go... LEAVE A COMMENT!! There are FOUR $25 Gift certificates up for grabs - two for yesterday's hop and two for today's hop commenters. Winners will be picked randomly along the blog hop! You must comment to enter to win!!! You have until 11:59 PM PST on 7-18-17 to leave a comment! Winners will be announced on the Pretty Pink Posh blog!
